PTA Mobile Tax List 2022: All Mobile PTA Mobile Tax Calculator

PTA Mobile Tax Calculator: The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) levies a tax on all imports of mobile phones into Pakistan. This page contains a simple table rather than a fancy PTA tax calculator to determine approximate taxes on mobile phone imports into Pakistan. This item was modified on January 21, 2022, following the increase in PTA taxes following the adoption of the mini-budget by the federal government.

The PTA tax is required to obtain approval for a mobile phone imported into Pakistan; otherwise, the device will stop working on local mobile networks. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) introduced the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS), a system to identify non-compliant devices on local mobile networks. It automatically registers compliant devices running on mobile networks and optionally disables non-compliant devices in case the PTA tax is not paid on time.

The DIRBS system was first made available on December 1, 2018.

International passengers arriving in Pakistan can register their mobile phones by paying the PTA tax on their imported mobile devices to keep them functional on local mobile networks. These individuals can register their mobile phone with the PTA at the designated airport kiosk, or they can do so later by paying the PTA fee online or at bank branches.

Many people are confused about how much PTA tax they need to pay for importing their mobile phone, and here you will find a table rather than a difficult PTA tax calculator with detailed information about the amount of the tax due on mobile phones based on their value in USD.

It is important to note that mobile phone registration with PTA is cheaper on passports within 60 days of arrival in Pakistan to help travelers visiting the country, but the PTA fee is higher for people who import mobile phones into the country without traveling abroad. It should be noted that the PTA tax on mobile phones was increased following the implementation of the mini-budget by the federal government. The new PTA taxes on cell phones are shown in the table below.

What is ad valorem sales tax?

Ad Valorem sales tax is imposed on the monetary value of the taxed item, which means users will be charged basic tax plus 17% sales tax based on the exact value of the smartphone at checkout of the PTA fee for approving their smartphone. This means that the new PTA fees for smartphone approval will not be the same for different devices and will be determined based on the value of the mobile phone.
